Build a seven-day time card with custom row labels, start and end times, unpaid breaks, rounding, report notes, and optional pay. Use Copy Monday down to fill the remaining rows before adjusting individual days.
How to use this calculator
Enter each shift’s start, finish, and unpaid breaks consistently. Check overnight entries and the resulting daily totals before using the weekly total. Decimal hours are not hours and minutes: 7.5 hours means 7 hours 30 minutes.
Examples
Default Monday shift
8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute break produces 8 hours.
42-hour week at $35/hour
With overtime after 40 hours at 1.5×, base pay is $1,400 and two overtime hours add $105, for $1,505 total pay.
Formula
Daily hours are (rounded end − rounded start − break) / 60. Weekly overtime
splits total hours at the weekly threshold; daily overtime applies the threshold
separately to every worked row.
Payroll limits
The table performs arithmetic on entered punches, breaks, rates, and the selected overtime threshold. It does not determine whether a worker is exempt, whether daily overtime applies, how bonuses affect the regular rate, or which rounding rules are lawful. The US Department of Labor's overtime guidance explains federal rules; state and contract rules can differ.
